Finding free images for websites just got a lot easier—and legal—thanks to Getty Images!
The digital media pioneer now lets users embed its images on websites, blogs and social media platforms.
And it’s SUPER EASY to use! Watch how fast I embed an image…
The embedded images may be used for editorial purposes only. So you can’t use this tool to find images for your advertising, promotion or merchandising needs, but you can use these photos in a story that relates to a newsworthy event or is of public interest. Read the full terms of use before you get started.
Updated 3/10/14: One very big negative to using this tool, in my opinion, is this line from the terms of use, “reserves the right to place advertisements in the Embedded Viewer or otherwise monetize its use without any compensation to you.” I embedded an image in this blog post initially and have since removed the embed code because Getty Images did replace the image with an ad. My recommendation is to use this tool tentatively and only if you don’t mind the advertisements.
Hat tip to Hugh Briss at Social Identities for spreading the news about this cool embed tool.
I will be sharing additional resources on finding free images for websites and social media in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! In the meantime, have you used the Getty Images embed tool yet? What did you think of it?
